validation of learning outcomes

a process of confirmation by an authorised body that an individual has acquired learning outcomes measured against a relevant standard comprising four distinct phases, namely: identification through dialogue of particular experiences of an individual; documentation to make visible the individual’s experiences; formalassessment of these experiences; and certification of the results of the assessment which may lead to a partial or full qualification [Cedefop's European Inventory - Glossary of Key Terms]. Also referred to, more generally, as the process of confirming that assessed learning outcomes, achieved by an individual learner, correspond to specific outcomes which may be required for a unit or a qualification
